The multifamily market in Jersey City, N.J., is heating up and Mack-Cali has formed a joint venture with Ironstate Development Co. to capitalize on the growing demand in the suburban New York City town. Together, the partners will erect a two-tower luxury apartment property along the waterfront.

The project has yet to be given a name, but it certainly has a location. The apartment community will sprout up on land Mack-Cali owns at the companys mixed-use Harborside Financial Center.

600 Brickell is pre-certified Platinum under the LEED for Core & Shell rating system, according to the U.S. Green Building Council. Core & Shell covers base building elements such as the structure, envelope and building-level systems, like central heating, ventilating and air conditioning. The rating system recognizes the division between owner and tenant responsibility for certain elements of the building varies.

Pre-certification is a unique aspect of the LEED for Core & Shell rating system that gives formal recognition to a project for which the owner/developer has established a goal of achieving certification under LEED.

SUNSET STRIP: Those big guitars that have lived on the Sunset Strip for the past year are being auctioned off for charity this weekend, so it’s your chance to get your hands on that giant, jewel-encrusted Katy Perry guitar you’ve always wanted. The Gibson Foundation put together GuitarTown on the Sunset Strip, which featured ten foot tall Gibson guitars in tribute to the Doors, Ozzy Osbourne, the Runaways, Brian Wilson, and other greats who have graced the Strip.

At the rate homes are going on the foreclosure block in Maryland these days, it would take 21 years — yes, years — before the current “pipeline” of homes in danger of foreclosure are all sold.

That’s according to industry consultant LPS Applied Analytics, which shows a dramatic drop in the number of Maryland foreclosure sales (repossessions or other involuntary transfers) after the robo-signing revelations last fall. That’s pushed the state’s time-to-sell figure skyward to the fourth-highest nationwide.

This seems poised to change, with warnings of impending Maryland foreclosure cases spiking in November.
